Johnny’s Cheating Mistake That Made His Teacher Laugh
Johnny was shocked when his history teacher, Mr. Johnson, accused him of cheating on a test. The teacher noticed that Johnny and Mary, who sat beside each other, had written the same answers. Johnny confidently demanded proof, saying that two students could easily know the same historical facts.
Mr. Johnson showed him the first two questions. Both students had answered George Washington as the first U.S. president and Abraham Lincoln as the man who freed the slaves. Johnny defended himself, saying these were easy questions and that he had studied the night before. But the teacher had one final question that Johnny could not explain.
The last question asked who was president during the Louisiana Purchase. Mary had written, “I don’t know.” But Johnny had written, “Me neither.” At that moment, Johnny went silent because his answer clearly showed that he had copied Mary’s paper without thinking. Mr. Johnson didn’t need any more proof, and Johnny learned a lesson he would never forget.
